As a Mortgage Assistant you will be responsible for working as a member of a cross-functional team focused on coordinating with vendors, attorneys and co-workers, monitoring systems and managing multiple deadlines. Specific responsibilities include performing credit investigations and verifications on applicants which may include public records searches, credit bureau reports, employment and income verification and asset and liability information. You will also accurately key and adjust verified customer information and prepare loan packages for review and action by Mortgage Specialists or Loan Underwriters.

The Cooperstown, NY branch is located in a rural area with urban amenities conveniently located nearby.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  The employee is responsible for working as a member of a cross-functional team focused on providing loans and financial services of high quality and value to customers within FCA and association policies and regulations.  With minimal supervision, depending upon experience, the incumbent will be responsible for business growth in a progressive portfolio with varied loan types and sizes, meeting the needs of both internal and external customers, and promoting a positive corporate image at all times.  



The employee is accountable for the following:

  • Credit Support: Gather customer information, perform credit verifications, prepare documents, monitor consumer compliance, enter data and organize files. Employee will work as a member of a cross-functional team, focused on providing loans of high quality and value to customers. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Will train, experience in the residential mortgage industry preferred
  • Member Relations/Teamwork: Provide outstanding customer service (both internal and external) and deliver exceptional customer experience and value by setting, communicating and meeting customer expectations. Demonstrate a strong community commitment and professional presence that contributes to the overall positive image of Farm Credit East. Act in a forthright and ethical manner, display a positive attitude and contribute positively to the overall morale of the team and association. Assist other team members and contribute to training.



A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of agriculture, finance, and credit administration is also preferred.                  


Required Qualifications

Must be team oriented, customer-focused, and have strong interpersonal skills. Must be organized and creative.
