As part of the Analytics & Insights team within the Association’s Risk Management group, the position will entail supporting Farm Credit East's portfolio risk management needs. The successful candidate will utilize an analytical approach to monitor portfolio conditions, identify key trends and emerging risks, and provide actionable information to aid in decision making.  As a senior analyst, the candidate will be able to lead portfolio risk management projects in collaboration with business partners (credit, finance, etc.) and provide guidance to less experienced analysts assisting on the project.    



With varying levels of supervision, depending upon the task assigned and experience, this position is accountable for the following:

  • Ongoing monitoring and reporting of portfolio conditions and key risk indicators (KRIs), including but not limited to credit risk, collateral risk, concentration risk, and counterparty risk.

  • Identify key trends and emerging risks within the portfolio and collaborate with the Association’s Knowledge Exchange group and management to identify the root causes.

  • Through ongoing reporting and analysis, interactive dashboards, and the Association’s Enterprise Risk Management framework, provide Association management and Board with real-time information and actionable insights.

  • In collaboration with the Association’s management reporting team and technology partner Financial Partners Inc (FPI), automate new and existing portfolio risk management tasks and analysis.

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis in support of the Association’s allowance for credit losses and provide actionable insights to the Association’s Asset-Liability Committee.

  • Complete stress testing to assess the potential impact of industry/economic conditions on the Association’s portfolio and financial condition.

  • As assigned, participate in applicable committees, workgroups, or project teams, both within the Association and with key Farm Credit System (FCS) partners.        


Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in finance, economics, statistics, or related field required. 


Required Experience

  • 3-5 years credit experience focusing on portfolio risk management and/or credit analysis/underwriting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in data analysis and reporting systems.  Specific experience with Power BI preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing initiatives and deliver results within deadlines and with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, with a particular aptitude in communicating complex technical concepts in simpler language for the consumption of management/decision-makers
  • Must have an innovative mindset and be willing to challenge the norm in a constructive, professional way


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and/or experience with credit risk modeling, loss forecasting, regression models, and economic capital
  • Experience analyzing reserve model results and ensuring compliance with internal controls and model governance standards
  • Familiarity with Dodd-Frank Act Stress Testing (DFAST) requirements and best practices
  • Knowledge of the agriculture industry
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, SAS, or R
  • Experience with the SAS Risk Stratum platform
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM and nCino loan origination platforms
