As an Internal Controls Specialist, the incumbent will be responsible for working as a member of a cross-functional team focused on providing financial services of high quality and value to the finance and operations group. This position helps to manage the Association’s overall Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and compliance processes.  This includes managing the identification, implementation and testing of key controls as well as the preparation of Internal Control Reports in conjunction with the Association’s annual audit.  Works closely with the Internal Controls Manager, members of the Finance, Accounting, Operations and Risk Management groups to achieve these goals.  Employee is responsible for communicating with Farm Credit Financial Partners, PricewaterhouseCoopers, FCA, and CoBank examiners as necessary regarding Farm Credit East operations and reporting requirements.


The employee is expected to provide support to other team members, meet the needs of the customers, grow the business of the Association and promote a positive corporate image at all times. The employee shall also be responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. We offer a hybrid workplace after six months.




  • Work with management, ICFR & internal audit teams to prepare and execute FC East’s annual ICFR Plan
  • Work with PwC & management to plan & complete an integrated audit readiness assessment
  • Implements internal controls identified during the readiness assessment process 
  • Works with management to remediate any outstanding ICFR Control Deficiencies
  • Work with the AgWorx Enhancement team to design process flow enhancements to remediate ICFR design deficiencies
  • Meets all reporting deadlines – SAD submission, CoBank GFA submissions, PwC Specified procedures testing
  • Member of ICFR Steering Committee & attend Audit Committee meetings as needed
  • Attend ICFR/Accounting conferences, e.g. PwC System, Workiva User, CoBank ICFR, etc.
  • Engaged in training and full adoption of Farm Credit East’s technology platforms to meet association and customer needs. Demonstrates a strong commitment to standardized methods to improve efficiency, collaboration and embodiment of One Firm One Philosophy. Invested in personal and team success through the transition process, holding each other accountable to the association’s strategy.
  • Provide outstanding service and effectively address customer (both internal and external) inquiries and issues in order to maintain strong customer relationships. Build customer confidence and satisfaction by setting, communicating and meeting achievable customer expectations. Develop strong business relationships by taking responsibility, thinking creatively, seeking opinions and ideas from others and utilizing all of our products and services to create value for our customers while acting in a forthright and ethical manner.


Required Education


This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business related field.
