Position Summary:

As part of the Management Reporting function within the Risk & Analytics team, this person supports Farm Credit East's management reporting needs. This person utilizes various reporting, dashboarding, and querying tools to compile data into consumable formats.  Reporting and data analysis is targeted at meeting the reporting needs of key stakeholders including, but not limited to Senior Management, financial reporting, business unit leaders, and staff.  Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential both to communicating complex concepts to management in a way that is easy to understand, and to facilitating development and knowledge transfer across the Association’s management team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Analysis & Reporting

Execution of the data analysis & reporting function includes the technical aspects of execution as well as strong communication and collaboration skills to ensure reporting solutions meet the business requirements set by stakeholders. 

  • Works with stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliverables, and sets appropriate expectations.
  • Effectively and efficiently carry out management reporting requests, provide insight and recommendations for process improvements where applicable.
  • Ensure the reporting needs of various internal and external stakeholder groups (senior management, branch managers, etc.) are met.
  • Data / information presented is appropriate for the request and meets any regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in enhancing and streamlining reporting capabilities around new core systems (i.e. AgWorx – Salesforce/nCino) as legacy systems are phased out.
  • Work with Finance and Accounting to ensure management reports are in compliance with Internal Controls over Financial Reporting, including but not limited to following change control procedures, completing key report testing and validation, and mapping data elements back to source systems.
  • Help drive Association implementation and adoption of Power BI and either Power BI Paginated Reports or SSRS as the new reporting tool(s) of choice within the Association.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders both internally and externally to scope projects, define requirements, and evaluate deliverables.
  • Provide outstanding service and effectively address customer (both internal and external) inquiries and issues in order to maintain strong customer relationships.

 

Data Management and Data Governance

In collaboration with the Data Governance & Data Management Offices:

  • Maintain a sound understanding of data management and data governance’s role in guiding the collection, management, and use of Association data; including the Association’s data governance framework, approach, and vision.
  • Support the data needs from across the organization by helping to carry out, enhance, and reinforce policies that ensure quality, security, and maintenance of data. This may include helping to define data elements, enhance data reliability, and minimize redundancies.
  • Support data quality initiatives through reporting and data analysis. This may include activities such as developing and monitoring data quality rules and creating reports/dashboards for management and staff use.
  • Develop a sound understanding of the Association’s vast database and become proficient in querying the Association’s data and performing ETL to ensure the raw data is transformed appropriately for use in management reporting, analytics, and modeling.
  • Actively participate in the Association’s transition from on-premises data storage to cloud storage, including developing the core technical skills necessary to carry out data management, reporting, and data governance within the Microsoft Azure platform.
  • Operate within defined change control / ICFR procedures and guidelines.
  • Support and facilitate the implementation of an analytics catalogue tool to support overall information governance, provide a centralized report location for staff, and ensure "one version of the truth."

 

Skills Development

The analyst should build and maintain a technical skillset that enables execution of all aspects of the job function. Skills development is inclusive of both methodology and tools. Skills necessary to execute the function include, but are not limited to:

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information management, statistics, finance, business intelligence or related field required. 
  • 1-3 years of experience in any of the following areas preferred:  strong knowledge of and experience with reporting services (Power BI, SSRS, SalesForce, Business Objects) and databases (i.e. SQL) or experience in a related field within the banking / financial services industry.
  • Experience querying data from a SQL Server database
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in data reporting systems.  Specific experience with SSRS or Business Objects preferred.
  • Experience working with different lines of business to accomplish reporting and data solutions by translating business requirements into reporting and data needs/techniques
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Must have an innovative mindset and be willing to challenge the norm in a constructive, professional way
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, as well as leadership skills, with a particular aptitude in communicating complex technical concepts in simpler language for the consumption of management/decision-makers, as well as for the benefit and development of all staff
  • Experience working with different lines of business to accomplish reporting and data solutions by translating business requirements into reporting and data needs/techniques
  • Preferred:
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Experience creating dashboards and reports in PowerBI
    • Experience with Salesforce, nCino, and/or Fiserv DNA is a plus
