The Mortgage Assistant is responsible for shepherding loans and the delivery of credit through the end-to-end lending lifecycle. This person will primarily be responsible for internal operations with several external client-facing responsibilities, as well. Mortgage Assistants collaborate with the Mortgage Specialist and Country Living Underwriting, as well as external vendors, and function as the first line of defense for customer questions and documentation needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Loan Support
- Performs day-to-day activities to assist lending staff with supporting new and existing customers across the entire lending life cycle
- Credit Related Tasks:
- Executes tasks related to document collection, including customer financials
- Interacts with Credit and serves as the liaison to team members during the loan approval process
- Initiates Preliminary Credit Packages in the system for Modifications/Renewals/etc.
- Orders and obtains third party reports, including appraisals, title, etc.
- Operates as the liaison for Doc Prep/Legal/Closing/Funding/Booking
- Serves as a point of contact for customer requests including the movement of money, loan disbursements, wires, ACHs, and customer payments
- Is responsible for accounts receivable management related to pre-paid closing fees, or professional services of the Association
- Operations Related Tasks:
- Serves as a point of contact on internal request forms, with responsibilities ranging in multiple stages of completion (initiation to finalize) based on the business issue
- Provides quality assurance of shared documentation
- Prepares Document Checklists
- Executes loan administration tasks
- Confirms loan documentation has been received and filed
- Requests and/or generates any reports for tracking/monitoring of the Team’s portfolio
- Document Management
- Responsible for activities related to Mortgage filings
Customer Centricity
- Troubleshoots client questions/issues
- Maintain a 24-Hour communication expectation for customer contacts
- Identifies potential opportunities and forwards those referrals onto the appropriate team member e.g., a tax opportunity for financial services
Monetary
- Process monetary transactions , including loan disbursements, wires, ACHs, and customer payments including proper documentation
- Services client requests with money movement of Payments, Wires, and Draws, including engagement of other Association roles to ensure compliance with policy
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- This position requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agri-Business, Economics, Finance, Business or a related field.
- This position is primarily conducted out of a physical Farm Credit East office location in order to effectively serve local customers. Farm Credit East requires new employees to work at their assigned office location for the first 2 weeks of their employment. After 2 weeks of acceptable performance, the employee is eligible for a hybrid working structure of 4 days in-office and 1 day working from home each week.
Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 commensurate with experience
